fal H3 Max Reframe: What It Does and Costs

fal's H3 Max Reframe outpaints an existing video to a new aspect ratio. See its inputs and price, and what SceneOak offers for new vertical or wide clips.

Last updated: 2026-10-21

fal H3 Max Reframe is a fal endpoint (minimax/h3-max/reframe-video) that fits an existing video onto a new canvas, such as 9:16 or 21:9, and generates the missing edges. This page sums up its inputs, limits and per-second price from fal's docs, checked on 21 October 2026. It also explains what SceneOak can do instead: it does not reframe an uploaded video, but it can render a new clip at the aspect ratio you need.

What is H3 Max Reframe on fal?

According to its model docs, Reframe is a video-to-video outpainting endpoint. It contain-fits your source video onto the target canvas and generates the surrounding area. It keeps the source timeline and audio, but fal does not promise that the original pixels stay identical.

H3 Max itself is not a model released by MiniMax. fal's H3 vs. H3 Max comparison (published 1 September 2026) describes it as a variant of MiniMax H3 post-trained by fal Research, generating at 480p or 768p, while base MiniMax H3 also offers 2K and 4K (upscales of a 768p render). fal's later H3 Max landing page also lists a 1080p price for H3 Max text-to-video and image-to-video.

How fal prices Reframe

fal bills by generated video seconds: $0.05 per second at 480p and $0.08 per second at 768p, so a 5-second 768p reframe is $0.40. Long videos are processed in overlapping windows and the overlap is billed too, so billed seconds can exceed the length of the output. The pricing section lists no 1080p price, although 1080p is an input option. Check fal's page before running a long or 1080p job.

The other H3 Max endpoints

EndpointNotes from its own page (21 October 2026)
minimax/h3-max/text-to-video, minimax/h3-max/image-to-video (landing page)The two endpoints the landing page lists; image-to-video takes an optional end_image_url. 5–15 seconds; $0.05 / $0.08 / $0.16 per second at 480p / 768p / 1080p
minimax/h3-max/reference-to-video (llms.txt)Up to 12 reference images, videos and audio files; reference videos 2–15 seconds each, 15 seconds total; 0.92–15 seconds output; $0.05 / $0.08 / $0.16 per second, 4,096 reference tokens included, then $0.02 per 1,000
minimax/h3-max/reframe-video (llms.txt)Outpaints an existing video, as described above

The landing page also links a Turbo text-to-video model and says signed-in users get five free generations a day, up to 15 seconds each. Its "ranked first" and speed claims are fal's own statements, not something we measured.

Reframe an old clip vs. render a new one

  • You must keep the original footage. Use an outpainting tool such as Reframe. It keeps your timeline and audio and only invents the edges.
  • You only need a vertical or wide clip. You can render a new shot from a prompt at the target aspect ratio. The result is a new video; it does not preserve your original clip.

What SceneOak offers instead

SceneOak does not offer H3 Max, H3 Max Turbo or Reframe, and it cannot outpaint or re-crop an uploaded video. With MiniMax H3 selected, it renders a new 5–15 second clip with audio from a prompt or one starting image, at 768P, 2K or 4K. The aspect ratio choice (adaptive, 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 or 9:16) applies only to prompt-only renders; with a starting image, the chosen ratio is not sent to the model. On fal, those renders use base MiniMax H3 text-to-video and image-to-video, not H3 Max.

Each chat message adds 10 credits. We do not show MiniMax H3 sample clips here yet; see the showcase for videos from other models with their prompts, or the Kling image-to-video guide for starting from a photo.

Need a reference video?

Only Seedance 2.5 accepts reference images, videos and audio on SceneOak. Reference videos may total 1.8 to 30.2 seconds (fal's limits for Seedance 2.5). With a reference video, the reference length is billed together with the output length at a reduced per-second rate, and the workspace shows the exact cost before you send. This guides a new clip's motion or content; it is not reframing and does not change your original video's canvas.

Frequently asked questions

What does fal H3 Max Reframe do?

It contain-fits an existing video onto a new canvas and generates the surrounding area, keeping the source timeline and audio. fal does not guarantee the original pixels stay identical.

How much does H3 Max Reframe cost?

fal charges per generated second: $0.05 at 480p and $0.08 at 768p, so 5 seconds at 768p is $0.40. Overlapping windows on long videos are billed too. No 1080p price is listed.

How long can the source video be?

fal accepts source videos from 0.25 to 300 seconds.

Which aspect ratios can it output?

16:9 (the default), 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 21:9 and 9:21.

Is H3 Max the same as MiniMax H3?

No. fal describes H3 Max as a variant post-trained by fal Research on MiniMax H3. Its comparison page lists 480p and 768p for H3 Max (its landing page also prices 1080p), while base MiniMax H3 also offers 2K and 4K.

Can SceneOak reframe or outpaint my existing video?

No. It can render a new MiniMax H3 clip at an aspect ratio such as 9:16 or 21:9 from a prompt (the aspect ratio setting does not apply when you start from an image), but it does not keep your original footage.

How many credits does a MiniMax H3 clip cost here?

A 5-second clip uses 420 credits at 768P, 550 at 2K or 830 at 4K, plus 10 credits for the chat message.

Can I use a reference video here?

Yes, with Seedance 2.5 only. Reference videos may total 1.8 to 30.2 seconds, and the result is a new clip, not a reframe.
